Hiring a finish carpenter for the first time — or after a bad experience with someone else — comes with a lot of questions. How does the process work? How long will it take? What happens to my furniture? Will my home be a mess for days?
Here’s exactly what working with Home Trim looks like, from the moment you reach out to the day we pack up and leave.
Step 1 — You Reach Out
It starts with a message, a call, or an email. You tell us what you’re looking for — crown moulding in the living room, wainscoting in the hallway, baseboards throughout the main floor — whatever it is. We respond promptly and schedule a free in-home estimate at a time that works for you.
Step 2 — The In-Home Estimate
We come to your home, look at the space, and listen. We discuss your design preferences, talk through material options, and take measurements. There’s no pressure and no sales pitch — just an honest conversation about what works best for your space and budget.
After the visit, we send you a detailed written quote so you know exactly what the project costs before committing to anything.
Step 3 — We Hold Your Start Date
Once you decide to move forward, we find the earliest available start date and hold it for you. No vague timelines, no “we’ll call you when we’re free.” Your project goes on the schedule and that date is yours.
Step 4 — We Show Up on Time
On the agreed start date, we arrive on time. Not a two-hour window. Not a “sometime in the morning.” We show up when we said we would — every time, for every client across Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga, and the rest of the GTA.
Step 5 — We Prepare Your Space
Before any work begins, we cover your floors with drop cloths. If furniture needs to move, we take care of it. All cutting is done outside your home — so there’s no sawdust floating through your living space, no mess tracked from room to room. Your home stays as clean as we can keep it throughout the entire project.
Step 6 — We Work Until It’s Done
This is where we’re different from a lot of contractors. Once we start your project, we work on it until it’s finished. We don’t jump between multiple jobs, leaving you to live in a half-finished space waiting for us to come back. When we’re on your project, we’re on your project — start to finish, without delays.
That matters more than most homeowners realize until they’ve had a contractor disappear mid-job. We’ve heard those stories. We’re not that company.
Step 7 — We Handle the Cleanup
When the installation is complete, we fill nail holes, caulk all edges, and leave the work paint-ready. We clean up our tools and materials, take down the drop cloths, and put your furniture back where it belongs. If there’s old material being replaced — old baseboards, casings, or trim removed during demolition — we typically take it with us for recycling so you’re not left dealing with a pile of debris.
You walk back into your space and it’s clean. The only thing left to do is paint.
What You Won’t Experience
No surprise costs — your quote is your price. No disappearing acts — we’re reachable throughout the project. No messy handoffs between crew members — the same person who assessed your space is doing the work. No half-finished jobs sitting for days — we work through to completion.
Ready to Get Started?
Whether you’re in Oakville, Markham, Richmond Hill, Burlington, or anywhere else across the GTA, the process is the same — professional, clean, on time, and done right.
